Day 5 of the festival will feature sets by oudists Michael Burdi and Adam Good. Seating is limited and first-come first-serve.

Michael Joseph Burdi is an oud player and composer from Brooklyn, NY. Of Syrian/Lebanese and Italian descent, he combines influences from Middle Eastern scales (maqamat), Western harmony and North African rhythms in his original compositions. Michael is the founder of Harmal, a group that ranges from duo to quintet and features a revolving cast of musicians from the NYC Arabic music scene, and has released several albums. This performance will be a collection of original songs with influences from Levantine, Maghrebi and Turkish sources, along with traditional songs played on oud accompanied by synth/keys and percussion.

Adam Good is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and composer working with contemporary modal music in the traditional styles of Turkey, Greece and Eastern Europe. His musicianship on guitar, Turkish ud, tanbur, and knowledge of Turkish makam has made Adam a fixture of the Balkan and Middle Eastern music scenes in the US and abroad. He will present his Balkan Oud Trio, a project rooted in the rich melodic and rhythmic traditions of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, and beyond. Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Adam Good is known for his expressive playing and knowledge of Turkish makam, balancing tradition with contemporary sensibility. His studies over two decades have included work with masters such as Turkish oud virtuoso Necati Çelik and Ross Daly. The trio features Paul Brown on electric bass and Mal Stein on drums and percussion. Adam performs regularly with Dolunay, Pontic Firebird, and Souren Baronian's ensemble Taksim.

The New York Oud Festival is a multi-day, multi-venue music festival that displays the oud and its versatility as it exists in New York's diverse musical culture. The NYOF celebrates the oud and its wide-ranging influence on global music culture, showcasing artists from a multitude of traditions and contexts, and demonstrating why the oud continues to be one of the world's most beloved instruments. www.newyorkoudfestival.com
