Starting September 22: Group Maqam Singing Classes: Arabic Music for All

Ready to dive into learning maqam? This class, led by Sami Abu Shumays, is great for both beginners and advanced musicians. As usual, each class is stand-alone and focuses on one maqam. Drop-ins are welcome and encouraged, while those who take multiple classes will develop a more layered understanding. Preorder the full 3-class bundle for a discount!

September 30 - December 9: 10-Week Group Percussion Course with Nezih Antakli

Our very popular class with master drummer Nezih Antakli is back for the fall! This hands-on course continues to build players' skills with more advanced techniques with a focus on tone and sound quality, while continuing to work on basic fundamentals and rhythms to deliver the "language" of the darbuka.

October 6: Rai in the Pocket: Algerian Grooves and Rhythms

We are psyched to announce this special workshop led by one of Algeria’s leading Raï drummers, Rabah Hadjal.
In this workshop, participants will explore how to play Raï music on the derbouka and other percussion instruments, including congas, tambourine, bendir, and guellal. No previous experience is required.

November 2 - December 7: Arabic Music Ensemble (Takht) Workshop

A new initiative, we are offering a coached ensemble opportunity to develop skills playing in a group and working on repertoire, interpretation, arranging choices. This will be led by oudist Ameer Armaly. Depending on interest, we may add additional groups/sections.
