A seven-piece Greek folk ensemble reviving the soul of Rebetiko and Greek Island music through deep grooves, soaring melodies, and heartfelt storytelling. Our performances blend traditional roots with a modern NYC edge.

Ta Pedia Tis Polis is a New York-based group dedicated to preserving and reimagining the spirit of Rebetiko — the urban blues of Greece and Greek Island music. With bouzouki, violin, vocals, and rhythm, the ensemble brings to life the music of underground cafes, hash dens, port cities of the early 20th century and the Greek Islands. The group is led by Tommy Kavounidis and features some of the city’s most passionate performers of Greek folk music.
