New York Arabic Chorus

Brooklyn Maqam is excited to announce the first ever New York Arabic Chorus!  We’re looking for singers of all levels who are passionate about Arabic music and culture. This is a unique opportunity to explore traditional and contemporary Arabic repertoire and be part of a groundbreaking musical initiative.  The chorus will be led by internationally renowned Palestinian vocalist Mona Miari.

Because of the high interest, we are holding an open call for submissions for participating. Participants will be selected based on submissions and space/availability.

**We will be scoring with an open mind, language is not a requirement, all levels welcome, but we need to know where your natural ability stands in order to place you within the group.

You can make a submission here, submissions due December 31st!

Details:
- The chorus will meet every Monday evening for 12 weeks in a row, starting in Monday January 27th, 2025.  The season will culminate in a public performance.
- Location will be in or near the downtown Brooklyn area.
- Applicants will be asked to include a short sample of their singing in their submission.
- Accepted and confirmed participants will be asked to pay a $150 registration fee for the season (talk to us if this is an issue!)
