Jan. 27 - Ayman Asfour: Sardi Fardi

Tuesday January 27th 2026 Sisters, 900 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11238 8pm (7:30 Doors)

Ayman Asfour is a violinist, composer, and improviser from Alexandria, Egypt, currently based in New York City. His work spans Arabic music, Egyptian folk traditions, and experimental and improvisational practices. He has collaborated with musicians across the Middle East, Europe, and the UK, and works as a composer, producer, and music curator. Asfour has also composed for theater, film, and contemporary dance. His upcoming album, Sardi Fardi, will be released later this year with support from the Arab Foundation for Arts and Culture (AFAC).

سردي فردي Sardi Fardi

Sardi Fardi (Odd Narrative) is Ayman Asfour’s latest project, blending classic Egyptian melodies with the dynamic energy of odd meters. By placing storytelling melodies and Arabic maqam in an unusual rhythmic structure, the project offers alternative ways for the listeners to experience the music, and challenges both the composer and the musicians to navigate new expressive possibilities within a familiar tradition. Since arriving in NYC, Asfour was lucky to link up with some incredible musicians through the Brooklyn Maqam community who have contributed greatly to this project’s musical process.
